"Anime and Samurai" Tour

At Last! Geek Nation Tours is pleased to announce our "Anime and Samurai" Tour.  Geek Nation Tours actually as two options for this tour.  The first is the extended version of the tour which is 12 days and will bring us to many amazing sights in Kyoto and area in addition to Tokyo. We will explore a multitude of temples, do the famous “Philosopher’s Walk”, dine under the cherry blossoms and visit Mt. Hiei.  From here we will be visiting the super cool Toei Uzumasa Eiga- Mura or Kyoto Studio Park.  Here we will see where loads of Samurai movies and TV shows are made.  We might even dress up in a costume or two. It doesn’t end there however as we will continue to see Osaka (including Osaka castle) Nara (including the Great Buddha) and the Osamu-Tezuka Museum.

After all this we will meet up with rest of the tour taking the “Tokyo only” (7 days - March 22 to March 28) version of the tour.

Both tours will be bringing us to not only the Tokyo Anime Fair but also the Ghibli Museum. That’s right! We will visit the Tokyo International Anime Fair AND Ghibli Museum.  We will also game and shop in Akihabara and explore Harajuku (we might even sneak off to Shinjuku at night).

The tour is sure to be a blast and while Teras’ Japanese is rusty we have plenty of guides to help us out throughout the tour.  Book fast spots are going quickly.

Day 1 (March 17th) Depart Vancouver with the group or from your city of origin for Narita, Tokyo.

Day 2 (March 18th) Arrive in Tokyo and then depart to Kyoto from Itami airport. Meet at our hotel for a local “Obanzai” dinner. Dinner included

Day 3 (March 19th) Breakfast at hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to visit the various temples in the Kyoto area.  I will be leading a group for those that want to stick close to me… Breakfast included

Day 4 (March 20th) Breakfast at hotel. Today we will be touring by foot so bring your walking shoes.  We will go on one of the most famous walks in all of Japan.  The Nansenji Temple to Ginkakuji Temple or “The Philosopher’s Walk”.  After if the weather and the cherry blossoms are favourable we will have a “Hanami” party in the park. Breakfast included.

Day 5 (March 21st) Breakfast at hotel. We will have a full day today.  In the morning we will visit Shiga Prefecture and Kyoto plus Mount Hiei by bus.  After lunch we will visit the super cool  “Toei Uzumasa Eiga-Mura” or “Kyoto Studio Park”.  Here we can visit the sets were many historical movies and TV shows are made.  Also we'll get the chance to dress up as a Samurai or Geisha. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 6 (March 22nd) Breakfast at hotel.  We again have a full day of adventure for you.  We will be visiting Osaka and Nara.  We will see Osaka Castle, Todaiji (the Great Buddha), Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and then arrive at a traditional Japanese hotel or Ryokan to spend the night.  Here we will be treated to a dinner right in the Ryokan.  What is more the place we will be staying at will be a traditional style Onsen or Spa. We will sleep in a traditional Tanami room and bathe in the Onsen. Breakfast , lunch and dinner included.

"Tokyo Only" tour leaves origin city

Day 7 (March 23rd) Breakfast at Ryokan.  From here we will see the Osamu-Tezuka Museum (for more visit wiki). Later we will visit Mt. Rokko and then proceed to Shin-kobe to take a Shinkanzen (or bullet train) to Shinagawa station Tokyo. We will dine at a nearby restaurant and explore the city at night. Breakfast and dinner included

"Tokyo Only" tour arrives in Tokyo and joins tour at hotel.

Day 8 (March 24th) Breakfast at hotel. We will take the Tokyo subway and visit the Ghibli Museum. The rest of the day is yours to explore. I will be leading a group to Shinjuku or Roppongi for some night life action. Breakfast included

Day 9 (March 25th) Breakfast at hotel.  We have another full sightseeing day.  We will visit Harajuku and Akihabara as well as the Tokyo Tower. Breakfast included

Day 10 (March 26th) Breakfast at hotel. Today we will be off to the Tokyo Anime Fair were you will spend the day on your own schedule. Breakfast included

Day 11 (March 27th) Breakfast at hotel. Another day at all the goodness of the Tokyo Anime Fair. What do you think? Another night at Shinjuku or Roppongi for some night life? Breakfast included.

Day 12 (March 28th) Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure and then transfer to Narita Airport to return to Vancouver. Breakfast included.

What is included: Many meals, bus transfers, walking and bus tours and loads of other stuff.

What is not included: Air (from Vancouver $1400.00), tickets to the Tokyo Anime Fair (arranged later) and costume charges at Tori Uzumasa Eiga-mura. Some local transfers.  Some charges at restaurants (ie Karaoke)
